The management of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi, has dismissed fake admission letters being circulated in its name.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the University’s Public Relations Officer, Auwal Hassan, said the document titled “Provisional Letter of Admission into Bauchi State University, Gadau, Bauchi State for the 2025/2026 Session” was fraudulent and designed to mislead unsuspecting applicants.
Hassan explained that SAZU is a separate institution from Bauchi State University, Gadau, and warned that fraudsters were deliberately exploiting the similarity in names to deceive admission seekers.
He stressed that admission into SAZU can only be processed through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and the University’s official portal. “The University has not issued any admission letters for the 2025/2026 Academic Session outside its approved channels,” he clarified.
The PRO further cautioned applicants and parents against making payments such as “acceptance fees” to unauthorised persons or bank accounts, describing such requests as fraudulent.
He urged prospective students, parents, and guardians to verify admission offers only via JAMB CAPS or the SAZU Admissions Office, and to report any suspicious letters, messages, or payment demands to the University Security Unit or law enforcement agencies.
Hassan added that the University management is collaborating with security agencies to track down and prosecute those behind the scam.
