St. Maria Goretti Grammar School Receives Brand-New School Bus from Old Girls Association
Benin City, October 30, 2025 — It was a day of joy and gratitude at St. Maria Goretti Grammar School, Benin City, as the institution officially unveiled and received a brand-new school bus donated by its distinguished Old Girls Association (SMAGOGA).
The event, held within the school premises, drew administrators, clergy, teachers, students, and representatives of the Old Girls Association who gathered to celebrate this milestone of generosity and commitment to education.

The ceremony began with an opening prayer led by Very Rev. Fr. Mike Oyanoafoh, who invoked God’s blessings upon the event and all benefactors. In his closing remarks, Fr. Oyanoafoh commended the Old Girls for their thoughtfulness and sacrifice, describing the gesture as “a true testament of gratitude and love for their alma mater.” He also praised the students for “standing out positively and maintaining a good academic environment that continues to uphold the school’s legacy.”
Also present was Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Ekhaisomi, Administrator and Vicar for Education, who extended his profound appreciation to the Old Girls of SMAGOGA for their dedication and financial support toward the new school bus.
Delivering her address, Mrs. Angela Jesurobo, Global President of SMAGOGA, expressed heartfelt gratitude and pride on behalf of the association. She described the donation as “a symbol of love, unity, and dedication — a reflection of our collective desire as old girls to give back to the institution that laid the foundation for who we are today.”
She further acknowledged notable supporters and benefactors, including Senator Daisy Danjuma, who, though not an alumna, contributed significantly to the project. “We are deeply touched by your generosity, your faith in our vision, and your commitment to the education and empowerment of the girl child,” Jesurobo said.

Addressing the students, she added:
“This bus is a gift of love — a reminder that you are part of a strong sisterhood that
believes in you and prays for your success. Please use it with care and pride.”
The most emotional moment of the day came when the gleaming new bus drove into the school compound. Students erupted in excitement, rushing out of their classrooms, cheering and waving in appreciation for the heartwarming gift.
The event concluded with the blessing of the bus by Very Rev. Fr. Mike Oyanoafoh, after which students, teachers, and representatives of the Old Girls Association took turns touring the bus with visible joy and gratitude.
The day stood as a proud reminder of the enduring spirit of St. Maria Goretti Grammar School — a community united by faith, excellence, and love that continues to inspire future generations of Goretti girls.
